Public Policy and Strategic Planning Program – Track Two

Overview

The "Public Policy and Strategic Planning Program" aligns with the high-level directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq - may God protect him - to develop national leadership in the fields of public policy formulation and strategic planning. The program aims to prepare empowered national leaders in public policy formulation, development, and execution, and strategic planning to achieve national competitiveness. The program includes two tracks: the Excellency Undersecretaries Track – and their equivalents – and the General Managers Track – and their equivalents – within the state administrative apparatus. The program is implemented in collaboration with several leading global institutions specializing in government work and public service.

General Managers

The second track targets general managers - and those in equivalent positions - in the government administrative units.

The track was implemented from December 2022 to May 2023, with 28 training days, involving 36 participants from general managers - and those in equivalent positions - in the government administrative units.

The program includes 9 educational modules in public policy and strategic planning:

  • Strategic Thinking and Planning
  • Formulating Public Policies
  • Impact of Global Changes on Public Policies
  • Future of Policy Formulation and Implementation
  • Competitiveness in the Sultanate of Oman
  • Public Communications for Effective Policy Formulation
  • Workshop on "Futures Thinking and Foresight"
  • Applied Projects

Program Objectives
