In alignment with sustainable development goals through local competency development, the Royal Academy of Management has launched the “ILMAM” program to train new employees in the government sector. The program aims to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance effectiveness and improve the performance efficiency of the state administrative apparatus. The program is conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Ejada Development Company as the executive partner, and it seeks to build a qualified national workforce capable of transferring, applying, and producing knowledge.
Dr. Fathiya bint Abdullah Al-Rashediya, Assistant President of the Royal Academy of Management for Program Affairs, stated that the “ILMAM” program for training new government employees is part of the initiatives and programs launched by the Academy, guided by the royal interest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – may God protect him – in developing and empowering Omani cadres. The Academy believes in the necessity of localizing knowledge, tools, and modern technologies to enhance social and economic progress in the country by contributing to the development of processes with high efficiency, productivity, and transparency.
Dr. Fathiya confirmed that this program takes participants on a rich journey that contributes to building a new generation of national leadership with a renewed mindset. These leaders will be capable of adapting to ongoing and rapid changes, and will help shape the future developmental roadmap for the Sultanate of Oman.
The program will include 200 employees with less than a year of experience who have recently joined a government institution, distributed over five cohorts. It will provide comprehensive content covering government ethics and basics, including innovation and digital transformation, modern government management, and understanding national trends to prepare qualified employees with the knowledge and skills needed to support and improve job and administrative performance in the government sector.
The program consists of five main modules spread over five consecutive days. It will focus on national trends and Oman Vision 2040, national programs, and ethics and fundamentals of work, including leadership, critical thinking, code of conduct, quality and efficiency improvement, self-development, and continuous learning skills. Additionally, the program will cover innovation and creativity as a foundation for achieving strategic goals, self-marketing, institutional loyalty, inter-institutional integration, teamwork, and communication with various leaders within and outside the institution. The program will conclude with a focus on modern government management, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, performance indicators, goal setting, and institutional innovation.
It is worth noting that the launch of the “ILMAM” program for training new government employees is in line with the Academy’s working philosophy and embodies the royal vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – may God protect him – to develop national leaders with updated skills and capabilities in line with the “Oman 2040” vision. This program is part of the new initiatives being implemented by the Academy this year to enhance future skills among participants and apply the best international practical practices to adapt to ongoing and rapid changes.
