The Royal Academy of Management, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, is organizing the "Future of Higher Education Institutions" forum. This event targets university presidents, deans of public and private colleges, and representatives from both the public and private sectors, locally and regionally. It will take place from May 1 to 2, 2024.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Qassim Al-Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, stated that the forum stems from the esteemed attention of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – may God protect him – to the education sector, the importance of linking it with the requirements of economic growth, and the enhancement of creativity, innovation, and development among the next generation to enable them to benefit from future opportunities with a positive impact on the national economy. His Excellency clarified that the forum aims to build visions, exchange knowledge, and reimagine educational institution models by showcasing leading global practices and highlighting regional and international experiences, based on global transformations and the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence that have significantly impacted the education sector.

His Excellency affirmed that the forum is part of the distinguished and targeted initiatives that the Royal Academy of Management intends to launch to enhance future readiness among institutions and leaders in various sectors, in line with the supreme directives aimed at strengthening national preparedness to elevate the Sultanate of Oman to the ranks of advanced countries.

The forum discusses changes in the higher education sector, knowledge exchange, and common challenges with the aim of enabling leaders to understand emerging developments and trends affecting higher education institutions. It seeks to enhance partnerships between public and private educational institutions, build new visions that foster innovation and support economic growth, and improve institutions' ability to address future challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities. It also covers the impact on national competitiveness and innovation, innovative funding, the use of digital technologies to achieve financial sustainability and artificial intelligence, readiness for the future of work, balancing quality with international indicators and market requirements, and innovative and future-oriented models for higher education institutions.
